What to Do If You Get Bitten by an Animal

What to Do If You Get Bitten by an Animal

Some animal encounters are not as cute and cuddly as others. You or your loved one can get bitten or scratched and these wounds may cause infections if not treated properly and immediately. These types of injuries can happen at any time. Thus, we have a walk-in clinic in California.

However, do remember that despite your easy access to our after-hours medical care, knowing what to do in case you get bitten or scratched by an animal will help prevent any infections and make your trip to Progressive Urgent Care – Sebastopol less painful.

We care deeply for our patients and this is why we have provided you a list of what to do if you get chomped on by an animal. Take a look:

  • Wash the injured area with soap and water. If the bite is bleeding, put pressure on it using a clean cloth or gauze.
  • Put antibiotic ointment on the area once the bleeding stops.
  • Cover the wound with a bandage or a gauze.

Not all bites are this easy to treat. If the bite was caused by a wild animal, a stray, or a pet that has not gotten rabies shots then get urgent care in Sebastopol, California immediately.

We also urge you to take advantage of our urgent care services when a case like this arises. You can never be too careful!
